Joshua's 9 today!

Last night I made birthday cake popcorn and stuffed it in party hats, covered it with treat bags, tied it good and topped with twirly ribbon, for him to pass out at the end of the school day to all his classmates.

Then, after dinner, on a whim - we had Root Beer Floats!  We had them in our Steak & Shake glasses we bought last year while visiting in GA.

On his birthday . . .

Hmm, I wonder what it could be!!!???

TA DA!!!!!  (Okay - so he knew what it was.)

  Checking it out!

And, he's thinking, 'Do I really have to go to school this morning!'

Now, don't go thinking we are made of so much money we'd buy our young kid something so expensive for his birthday.  No, we either do a gift or a party.  In lieu of party, if they choose a gift, we will usually allow a sleepover, at least.  So, that is what is planned but - we do have a limit of spending.  This Kindle Fire hdx was definitely over the limit, however, Joshua contributed $100 toward its purchase (that was Christmas money).  Now, with any birthday money he receives he's been told he will put that money toward a case.  So, as you can see he's very pleased!  Sleepover tomorrow night!
